Since the eighteenth century, Eucalyptus has been distilled for use in chest problems.  Doctors identified this versatile plant in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia.  These mountains got their name from the extraordinary blue haze that exudes from the eucalyptus trees.

Eucalyptus is a strong plant with a well-developed root system that grows quickly and has abundant vitality.  The branches of the tree are shaped like a human lung, and this is the area of the body that Eucalyptus is most effective in treating.  It is brilliant for respiratory problems.

Eucalyptus essential oil is extracted from the leaves and twigs of Eucalyptus trees.  It has a strong, medicinal smell that is crisp and powerful.  In addition to its outstanding fragrance, Eucalyptus is also versatile.  It acts as an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibiotics, antiviral, analgesic and diuretic.  Eucalyptus is so adaptable that it can be used to cool the body in the summer and warm it in winter.

Eucalyptus enjoys a successful reputation in the cold and flu word.  It activates the red blood cells that increase oxygen to every cell in the body and is used in the treatment of sprains and pains.  And finally, Eucalyptus is great for giving you a sense of balance, claiming your nervous system, and increasing concentrations, which helps you think clearly and logically.  With Eucalyptus, you feel physically and mentally healthy and vital.

Here are a few blends that you can use in various ways.

CHILDREN’S COLD CURE

10 drops eucalyptus

10 drops Lavender

10 drops Tea Tree

ADULTS COLD CURE

2 drops Eucalyptus

5 drops Geranium

3 drops Peppermint

5 drops Rosemary

FLU FIGHTERS

6 drops Eucalyptus

4 drops Lavender

2 drops Peppermint

2 drops Rosemary

Use in any or all of the following ways

Put 3 drops in a diffuser at bedtime.

For heavy congestion during the night, put 2 drops on a piece of cotton and tuck it inside your pillowcase.

Put 2 drops in a Tablespoon of milk, and add to a bath.  Not only will the steam help clear nasal passages but the calming properties of this blend with help with rest.

Add 3 drops to 2 Teaspoons of base oil and massage into the chest and back.
